Story/History:

History has always told of the adventures of Link, but more so about their famed Princess Zelda. But what they failed to mention was the WHOLE TRUE STORY about Zelda and her family tree…

Zelda was not an only child, as they say. In fact, she had an older sister named Leah. Unlike Zelda, Leah was more independent than her younger sister, taking a keen interest in swordsmanship whereas Zelda preferred magic and sorcery. Leah, however the older child, was shoved aside when Zelda came along due to her being the direct reincarnation of the ancient goddess. Leah was overlooked by both her parents and society, with both of them soon only recognizing Zelda to be an only child. This is speculated to be, not because Leah was worthless, but because since Zelda was the reincarnation of the goddess, she was deemed to be the only child of the goddess herself, not in general.

Regardless if this is true or not, Leah became equally envious and disgusted with her little sister. But instead of flat out hating her and trying to cause harm, she chose to help her sister in any way possible in the hopes of being recognized as Zelda’s Protector – her guardian – and perhaps once again be recognized as her sister. Unfortunately, Leah’s chance was stolen away when the kingdom was under siege by Ganondorf. Leah and Zelda were forced to leave from their kingdom, and even worse, were forced to be separated from each other. Zelda was taken by their guardian, Impa, to live with her amongst her people – the Sheikah – while Leah was forced to venture east with her appointed guardian.

For seven long years, Leah went through vigorous training in swordsmanship and magic, being taught by her guardian and a priestess from the eastern lands. During those years, she never once had contact with Zelda, which both made her worried and fueled her hatred towards her, causing her to think that if Zelda was infact still alive, she probably forgot all about Leah or, worse, she didn’t want her to come back, whether out of concern for Leah’s own safety or just out of spite.
Leah remained in this state for 5 years until Sheik traveled to the eastern lands looking for her, as ordered by Zelda herself. Leah was informed of Impa’s demise at the hands of Ganondorf, and was told to stay hidden for 2 more years before returning home to Hyrule. But to help ease her mind and her loneliness, Sheik was also ordered to stay with Leah for those 2 years. The two of them formed a deep friendship and Leah was taught afew tricks from the Sheikah heritage. But once again, her happiness didn’t last long as Sheik left soon after the start of the 6th year, returning to Zelda.

Leah spent the rest of the 6th year honing in on her skills before leaving the Eastern Lands to return to Hyrule – way before it was time for her to return – to challenge Ganondorf in the hopes of regaining control over the land and to get the upper hand on Zelda. She was able to back Ganon into a corner, but unfortunately that’s as far as she got. Ganon banished her to the Dark Dimension, where she was forced to engage in combat against Dark Link until the 7th year.
Upon Dark Link’s demise (at the hands of Link in the Water Temple) Leah was freed from the Dark Dimension, returning to the Light Temple. There she was reunited with Sheik, who informed her of what had happened during the last year and also informing her that he and Zelda both thought she was dead. Leah used the news of her false death to her advantage and went with Sheik to other areas of Hyrule to help break away the darkness left in the wake of Ganondorf.

Before the final battle, Sheik revealed Princess Zelda to Link and to Leah, who was hiding at the time at the back of the Light Temple. When Zelda got captured by Ganon, Leah came out of hiding and revealed herself to Link, forming a triple team-up (Link, Leah and Sheik) to charge Ganon’s Tower and rescue her. At the top of the tower, the three of them became separated – leaving Link to fight Ganon alone and rescue Zelda. All four of them became reunited as Link followed Zelda out of the falling tower, rejoining with Sheik on the 4th floor and Leah on the ground floor.

After their escape, Zelda apologized to Leah for leaving her alone in the dark and expressed deep concern for her safety and happiness for her return. Leah then, at that moment, let go of her hatred towards Zelda and even threw herself in Zelda’s path, taking the hit from Beast Ganon’s sword to save her…

Outfit:

Leah’s outfit use to be one of great standing; with an elegant dark-red cape and long, flowing green skirt draped over her left leg. But now since the year-long battle against Dark Link has left its toll on her, both the cape and the skirt have been reduced to nothing more that torn shreds of silk. Her armored boots are scuffed and alittle worn, and her top and sleeves have been ripped to a great extent.

Written on her face are two long black marks, looking like elongated scars. They are, infact, the only things showing the extent of damage done towards Leah from being within the Dark Dimension for such a long period of time. She’s fortunate, as most would come back completely insane or turned into some kind of hideous monster. The reason she hadn’t done so is up in the air, but it is speculated that it might have been due to her strong will to live or perhaps the goddess was actually protecting her. Another idea being speculated is that since her heart was filled with such hatred and sadness that the darkness deemed her as “one of its own”, and thus left its mark upon her.

The glowing pendent in her right hand was a gift given to her by Sheik upon her return from the Dark Dimension. It is the equivalent of how Navi is with Link; it will glow a bright hue when around hidden/secretive items and objects, and will even “show” the right course of action to take when solving a puzzle or fighting an enemy. The pendent is called Heavens Light and has been passed down within Sheiks family for decades.
